1948 Ford Convertible

Car was purchased from the boonies of eastern Connecticut. Was red, had seized SBC. First thing was to dump that motor. Drive train is a .030 over, warmed up Ford 302. Trans is a C4 and rear is an 8 inch running 3.50 gears. Body was a mess , but had all the hard to find convertible parts. After the cowl separated from the rest of the body, I got a floor pan out of Montana and mated to the convertible body. Car took around five years to build. Debut was the old time drags at Englishtown. Color is 84 TBird midnight canyon red. Original paint was lacquer, now is base coat/clear coat in a total rebuild done in 1998. Front suspension iis Mustang II with Height's components. Wheels are American Torque Thrusts. Steering column is 67 TBird, modified so it wouldn't swing away. Front seats are mid size GM (power drivers). Upholstry is maroon tweed. Dash is 41 Ford with Dakota Digital guages. Has power windows (all four). Body has some mild custom work, including welding the front fender extensions to the fender for a smoother look. Side trim has been shortened in the front, other trim removed. Rear license plate is molded into the deck lid which has been shaved.
